Brooke Hoiland completed her Bachelor degree in Human Kinetics (BHK, 2015) at UBC Okanagan. She spent a few years travelling and working as a personal trainer (CFES) and group fitness instructor (CFES) before she decided to go back to school to pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy. She has since completed a diploma in Respiratory Therapy from Thompson River University (2019). She has 6 years’ experience coaching and training within Australia and Canada, working with a variety of individuals to help them achieve their health and fitness goals. She now has 4 years of experience working clinically as a registered respiratory therapist in Vancouver and North Vancouver. She works with a variety of patients such as those with spinal cord injuries, lung transplant patients, pediatric and neonatal populations, chronic lung diseases and more. She believes exercise is medicine and tries to get 30-45 minutes everyday herself.
Brooke works primarily in critical care, general wards and the emergency department, which has been an interesting challenge the past few years during the COVID-19 pandemic. When she gets the opportunity she enjoys conducting patient education sessions. She is focused on making a difference in the quality of care as it relates to oxygen therapies, respiratory adjunctive therapies, medication usage and any other questions patients may have.
She currently resides with her husband in North Vancouver where they enjoy taking advantage of the beautiful outdoors. Brooke also enjoys indoor spin cycling and resistance training. They are expecting their first Baby January 2023 and they can’t wait to meet the little one.
